2013
KISMET
MIXED UP UNISEX  DOUBLES

In a chaotic year, with hurricane Sandy still churning up chaos
within our community,I worried that yet another Kismet tradition might be in jeopardy

I called Joe
“Joe are we having it?”
Joe “I don’t know, I'll let you know”
And with lots of help from Binnie – there it was

Players and Friends,
Here is tomorrow’s schedule. Please check with your partners, who
may not be on this email list.
This may be one of the biggest best draws we've ever had- Sumi, Illysa, Dean and Jane, Jeff, Gary, Three Oh Barbosas!, Gordon and Andy, Jim S, a full FH contingent.... well look over the schedule and see the whole picture. Tennis Jerry is standing buy as Alternate #1, for the inevitable last minute
dropout or injury. We will miss Steve Stefano, who had a medical emergency yesterday, which hopefully has been resolved.

We were shooting for 12 to 16, and ended up with twenty, and we
will still try to do it in one day. Those who want to quit after three rounds,
can drop out before the semi final draw, and attend to their families and other
  priorities.

The impossible dream was to please those who wanted to play early,
with those who will not be on the island until 10AM,
Sorry I could not put it all together until just now.
Best wishes to all, and I hope we all enjoy the tournament.
JAB

Jeannie,
Sorry, my boys did not take pictures, and I was busy getting their
prizes- Dinner Certificates graciously donated by the Kismet Inn and Surf’s
Out.

The Winners were Sumi Shirai and Daniel Barbosa, and the Runners
Up were Binnie Steiner and Illysa Schneidman.
(Binnie and Daniel came back from 4-2 to beat Gary Leone and yours
truly 8-2.) In the other semi, Sumi and Illysa defeated Dean De Carlo and Jim
Sugrue, the heavy favorites, as quality prevailed over quantity, and the Ladies
had a field day, as they comprised three of the four finalists.
Steve Stefano officiated at our semi and the Finals, with his
usual authority and aplomb, refreshed by Grolsch from his grueling chores.

There was the usual gnashing of teeth among the wannabe's, but in
the end, all agreed it was an exceptional tournament and worth another shot
next year.

Tradition!!!
