CHERRY GROVE IN TOWN PARTY – FLORIDA

by Charity Charles

Panzi – APCG President – who is everywhere

Dearest Jeannie, I will try my best to recap the In-Town Party as best I can. Many old retirees from Cherry Grove attended this luncheon, as well as current inhabitants, and I'm not sure I recall all their names, although I do remember faces as always. You wouldn't know many of them either I bet. It was a sell out~ full house at Primavera, one of our local Fort Lauderdale Italian joints. They had an open bar from 1 to 2 P.M. Of course everyone crowded around in the cocktail lounge and dished out all that's happening in their lives and asking what's the latest scoop in everyone elses life. It was lots of hugs and Hollywood kisses of course. Many flew down just for the occasion and were having the best of times for doing so. There was a sit down lunch w/ several choices of entrees as well as a trio of appetizers, including a stuffed mushroom that exploded in the mouth. I had the Chicken Marsala (yummy) and China got the Gorgonzola Ravioli, while only eating 2 of the six on her plate. Always watching her figure you know. Panzi hosted the event and looked like her own daughter in red hair and chiffon top and pants.

China was the only other in drag in a spectacular print dress up to her thighs as usual. I opted to not dress as Charity after doing 3 consecutive nights @ Lips. I did Charles in only a splashy tropical print shirt. Very comfortable without a corset of death.

I will only attempt to throw out several names of those I know well and maybe you will know some of the guests who attended this fun and lively event. At my table was Meryl & Lois of Merlo fame, China, Robin & Daryl who reside on the old yacht @ Cherry's, Tommy (Tish) of Tiki Bar @ Island Breeze, Ex DJ Donna from Cherry's, and Richie, who once had the old Monster in CG.

Others in the dining room were, Troy & Brian (Beach Debree~Yaneeda Dunes), Rosie & Annie, Richard La France, Bob & Dick former owners of Blueberry Hill, Dominick (Mae Bush) & dear John, Frank & Pierre, CJ and Marco (Realty guys), George Oakley, Barbara Cerrone & Marilyn, Joan and just Lorraine w/ her trusty camera in hand, Joanne Travis without her Lois, who opted to stay in NY, Bill Perez, Bill~host @ the Breeze, Michael Pittman (Hunky Junky), Ro & Linda of old Bayview Cafe, Juanita (former Homecoming Queen), and of course Dan & Charlie who were originally having this lunch at their abode when it was only 25 attending, back in Sept.. It then grew to 50 and they were going to do it in their community room and handle all expenses. It just got so big that it ended up being @ Primavera. These wonderful 2 men paid for all, so the $25 fee we all doled out, went to our Community House for restoration purposes. Kudos to Dan & Charlie!

It eneded up being quite delightful and memorable for me as well as others I'm sure. It was joyous to see all our Summer buds down here in FL during Winter months. Hopefully it will happen again next year.

I hope this sums it all up for you darling. Sorry you couldn't join us.

Hugz n luv, Charity Charles
