GROVE IN TOWN ‘08

                                                                       By Jeannie

It was an amazingly balmy day for March 3rd as Grovites gathered for their annual In Town party at the upstairs of the charming restaurant East of 8th and distributed an exciting preliminary season calendar.  All of the favorites were there including the indomitable Charles Whipple.  Treasurer Laura Spadafino and Ellen Biggers greeted guests and took tickets and Martha Pitkin, Membership Chair, was ably assisted in renewing Memberships by Curtis Strohl, Recording Secretary.  President Michael Coffindaffer and Vice President Sherri Rase table-hopped, bringing people up to date on what this season brings.

Jack & Curtis celebrating 15 years together (“in dog years feels like 25”). Tim here without David who is finally completing his treatments. Isaac conferring with the new GM of Palace but Isaac will be here often. He is getting his MBA while acting as Budget Coordinator of NYU Dept of Music and director of Arts Administration (are you i9stening CGAP?) Martha learned that Ellen as efficient as she is in handling the money. The Shapiros and De Marco offering shows.

Among the events were a 50/50 raffle and the unveiling of this season’s Be A Star celebration kicked off.  Members can purchase a star on the floor of the Pavilion for themselves, friends and loved ones, or those who have passed.  This is a great fundraiser that helps the Arts Project make ends meet and they are going quickly - $100 buys a star for the season!
