 “Welcome to my Party”………..

The event was DRPeter's 60th birthday party, March 22nd - It couldn't have come at a better time - though the calendar said it was officially Spring the temperatures were wintry - nevertheless there was no denying the distinct feel of summer as Fire Islanders, convened for the first unofficial rite of the new season at former Kismetic Iggy's bar on New York's upper eastside,  most of whom h ad not seen each other since the previous summer - Peter, in is annual trek North from Florida, gathered hus many friends for the occasion.

“This is such a good time for   party - Winter is over and people are thinking about the summer“.It is particularly significant for me -  ever since my life threatening diagnosis several years ago I celebrate each year as a bonus, So this birthday is particularly significant  and I wanted to enjoy it with my friends”. He continued  “I had expected 30 but 44 showed up. I guess I have more friends than I thought”. Later he confided - “it cost me a lot but at this stage of my life what else is the money for?”

Dennis & Sharon unofficlly celebrated 5 year together (and they said it woudn’t last) Andrea showed up with her boyfriend
Pete Schmidt who had a rocky year healthwise. Tom came with his girlfriend, Cartoon Alley was well represented by Phil & Myrna, Beth, Donna et al. Ken there without Laurie, but with is sister Marge. Couples you never see at the same time: Rick & Judy showed up together as well as Hunkel & Susan. Dynasty’s "The Nicks": Nick, Nicoletta and their son, Nicholas.  Joe Beck took time off from his busy accounting business as a late arrival (interesting to see this professional’s actually working side), old Kismet fiends Gary & Louise, Nicole, Maureen and her lookalike sister, Barbara “Grandma”, Jimmy & Joanie, Uncle Phil, Terry.
