BOOK ‘N BAKE SALE

Although it was short notice and the prices were set to reflect the economy (50% lower)  the hard working gals of the KFDA, Patti V Phyllis Bakalar
Fran Tepper with additional help from;  Nancy Tuck, Sherri Roth, and many
others managed to take in $1250. People were bulk book buying and came back 3 and 4 times (perhaps read all their own books during our rainy time) Rudy donated 7 cartons of books (a year rounder’s survival technique?) Among the books sold - an Emily Post book of manners circa 1950’s suggesting a bride marrying “late in life” (in her 30’s) should not wear white, but “nice street clothes”. .A new way to\ inspire sales?  p\Phyllis B went to the Out asking if they would donate a cake, Later Paulie rode up asking “where do you want me to put the keg?” She said “do you have a plate?” He said “No. Why do I need a plate?” (you can’t make this stuff up, kids).  Reluctantly he took it back and later produced a cake. Though it might have been a great sales technique. Major cakes were: Kate’s Famous Kalua Cake an outstanding Mint Chocolate Cake, 5 Layer Ganauche Chocolate cake (ditto) And there was even a Kismet sand castle cake filled with strawberries blueberries and major whip cream. Bark Addiction!! Southern Rum Cake, Coffee Coffee Cake. That money has gone in the past for those great padded folding chairs and the bulletin boards around town that keep our poles and trees free of posters
