INVASION ’08: PROUD & POLITICAL AND PATRIOTIC

The 33rd, since its inception in ’76, included participants dressed in their finest, or cleverest, (or tackiest) despite the threat of rain and the dreaded heat & humidity that are a drag queen’s nightmare. “We have over 300 ugly people going to the Pines” bellowed Panzi continuing “I don’t mean to be mean but I can’t help myself”.

Heralded by MC Panzi’s timely announcement “I have some really bad news for you, Jesse Helms died this morning…we can all celebrate!” adding “Now is the time to register and vote to get rid of the people who are killing us” heralded the Invasion’s political theme which included 12 of America’s First Ladies from Abigail Adams, Dolly Madison, Mary Todd Lincoln, Mamie Eisenhouer,  to Pat Nixon, Jackie Kennedy, and Barbara &  Laura Bush, the terrific trio of Hillary, Bill & Chelsea, Michelle Obama (“I am finally proud of my country”), Coco & Margo twin brides for Same Sex Marriage, partners for 20 years  - Coco was 12, Margo 30, (per  Panzi) – the new Homecomng Queen Margo promised she would be political.

Outstanding were the 10 Belvedere Belles (Slutty Belle, Piggy, Krystal, Bunny, Aneeda, Darlen, Opal, Ruby, Betty et al). Brooke Haven and Beth Page were there, Misty Meaner, Ursala Major (with shoe problems), Carmen America (Darryl who outdoes himself every year) and amazing White Trash Girls: Beach Debris, Yanita Recycle, Greta Garbage & Dixie Dumpster (its clean fill trash, pickup is Tuesday) the Girls from Uranus, Clamidia Burns (all the way from Oregon), the Mahjong Club of Massapequa (all in leopard nighties & hats), Rhoda Dendrom,  Anita Pill, Betty Rehab, Taffetta, RG Joyce Rogers, the elegant Blanche DuBois , the Lemon Drop Judges (aka Golden Girls), celebrities: Wonderwoman, Cher, Liza, Shirley Temple; Lola Galore, flame haired Urban Sprawl, Fatal Fawcett, Ann Phetermine, and so many many more….

Here are but some
